Spiritual Self Defense
This month we really have a powerful moment of bible study we learn more, we share, we laugh with love together
Your life moves in the direction of your strongest thoughts (How We Think) is the topics we learn about.
We need to see the people we work with and the people we serve through God’s eyes – as people God loves and for whom Jesus gave His life. When we love other people as we love ourselves, we look out for them, show them respect, treat them well, and seek the best for them verse “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” Isaiah 55:8-9
Although we don’t naturally think in the same way as God, He does expect us to think carefully. Most of our battles, whether working toward good or sinful in nature, begin with our thoughts. Our thoughts lead to actions, and our actions influence relationships; the results can either be in alignment with who we are in Christ, or miles apart from God’s will. Therefore, “how” we think is exceedingly important. The good news after reading this we realize that our brains can be changed and we can influence how we think.
Proverbs 3:5 redirects our minds from trusting our traditional or habitual ways of thinking. One reason this is important is that our minds are a “battlefield” in which Satan is an unseen enemy who opposes the person and work of God. The Bible tells us that “he is a liar and deceiver” (Genesis 3:1-5), “a schemer” (2 Corinthians 2:11), “a counterfeiter” (2 Corinthians 11:13-15), and “a destroyer” (Revelations 9:11).
Satan wants to keep us from God and from thinking like Jesus. His primary tools from the beginning have been “lies” and distractions. For example, you may be successful in planning and completing a project and he’ll try to convince you that you don’t need God. You have all the knowledge and talent to do things on your own. Don’t listen, but test every thought and determine its source. Then Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.
Physical Self Defense
- This month we bless the lord for His grace upon our organization day upon day, this month we receive an invitation from CMS to participate to a roundtable forum organized jointly by CMS-Africa and CMS Britain (This will happen in May & June). The focus of this discussion is “The Role of Women and Youth in Implementing Wholistic Discipleship Programmes in eastern DRC”.
CMS-Africa and CMS Britain have been engaged in efforts with multiple churches and organisations, all Christian, to make disciples in the contexts of conflict focused in the general areas of Ituri, North Kivu and South Kivu in the DR Congo. This started with an online consultative forum in November 2021 and continues with various activities.
Purpose of the Roundtable
- To share case studies on the pivotal role played by women and youth in implementing wholistic community transformational programmes in contexts of conflict.
- To explore ways of enhancing the impact of these programmes to result in increased peace and stability in the communities.
- With our partner ACH we prepare a visit to one of the refugee’s camp, to provide medicine, food and assist those young girls who were raped and now they have babies they are in pain a lot with rain, sun, missing food and medical assistance, with our contribution we will do what we can.
