This new group of newcomers are composed of girls between 6 YO and 17. It’s amazing to see how they are glad to learn self defense. Most of them are from poor families here in Goma where the culture doesn’t give any value to girls. They are raised just to be mothers and take care of men. They have to support any abuse and cannot say anything. Especially in African families, we found uncles, cousins and friends come just to live and they usually abuse small girls in the house; the parents sometimes know but they ask to the small girl to not tell to someone because it is a shame for the whole family. But with the self defense, our girls are going to be able to defend themselves and to cry, make noise looking for help.

With the curriculum, they are building their faith in God; Even if them are poor, they know that they have been created on God’s image, He knows each one of them because He is their creator; They are beautiful and their life is in his hands.
