Spiritual Self Defense
Neema reports that “we are all doing very good, continuing studying and discussing our curriculum, also praying for our safe house, praying for our mentor Kelly and other donors, praying for all sustainable project, praying for our students, and praying for G.W.P in other countries.”
Physical Self Defense
Still so thankful that we were able to continue with physical self-defense training! Neema says they are continually learning different moves with the girls and are all doing very well. Additionally, they are using a song to help the girls learn. She also mentioned how one of our girls is currently pregnant but is still able to continue her training safely.
Intellectual Self Defense
Our girls Kindness and Gentleness are still in boarding school and they are all doing very well. While Kindness is in form four and Gentleness is in form two, both girls are going to be taking the National Exams soon. Please be praying for them as they prepare!
As reported last month, Sophia and Lightness are both continuing with home studies, and Elizabeth is their teacher.
Economic Self Defense
Neema reports that all her piglets are doing very well. Their pig, Thelma, has twelve, Louise has eight, and Toto has nine piglets. Which means Neema has twenty-nine piglets to care for! She asks that we pray for them as they grow because she needs strong and healthy pigs to sell.
We also have been fortunate enough to grow a huge crop of bananas this season! These are a great source of food and income.
Safe House Updates
Due to Covid19 lockdowns, our partners in a Maasai village were desperate to get some of their girls out. Their families had no money because of a lack of business and so they were selling off their daughters at a faster rate in order to get their dowries. This would mean FGM (female genital mutilation) if they hadn’t already had it performed on them so that they could be married off, usually to a much older man, often as a plural wife. Unfortunately, not only would she have to endure the possibility of marital rape but she would also have to forgo school completely to be a wife and future mother. We have rescued four girls since lockdown with another on the way. They all have their legal documents from the government stating that they can be with us.
We were now overflowing with girls at our Chief Neema’s little house in the jungle. We needed more room. Neema and Kelly had dreamed of buying land but they didn’t think they would be able to do it so soon, so they set out to raise money to finish a house that was handed down to Neema’s husband. This little house is only 20 minutes from Neema’s house, and Elizabeth, her GWP co leader, would be able to move there and become the house mother. Thanks to you- we have been able to accomplish this and create our first safe-house!! (pictured right).
But the miracles don’t just stop there!! Thanks to our incredible supporters, we have just purchased five acres of land in Tanzania! This land has a stream as well as fruit trees (which shows that the soil is rich and nutrient dense). The land is divided into two parts: 2.5 acres for living quarters and 2.5 acres to grow crops and raise livestock, such as cows, pigs, chickens and goats. The truly exciting part about this is that the land will be fully self sustaining!!
With this land, we plan to have :
-
Safe house for rescued girls.
-
An overflow safe house for rescued girls, and while they are away at boarding school will be used to house any volunteers or visitors so that they can feel fully immersed in the culture and get a chance to bond with our GWP Tanzanian family.
-
A house for the current TZ Chief of GWP and her family.
-
We are in the process of building a wall around this section of land to keep the rescued girls completely safe. Their safety is our highest priority.
-
Grow crops and house livestock. Whatever food is not consumed by the girls and Neema’s family will be sold in the market for additional income.
-
We are also working on additional sustainability projects that will be able to continually pay for the girls education, year after year.
Making this land fully sustainable will free us up to do this again in another location, for another Chief. We are excited for what the future holds, and we will keep you updated every step of the way! Thank you so incredibly much to our Graceful Warrior team!! We couldn’t do this without you!
