“My name is Lea. I live in the Democratic Republic of Congo in a province called Goma.
I am one of twelve children, but only seven of us are still alive. Most of them died from sickness or disease. Without money, the hospitals would chase us out and leave them to die at home.
Work is very hard to find here, so my mother finds us food when she can. I really wanted to learn but I would get chased out of school because I couldn’t pay. I had a friend who took me to become a prostitute so that I could earn money but I ran away. One day, a woman took pity on me and told my mother that she would send me to school. My mother agreed and I was sent with the woman. For two years she kept me as a slave at her house, a home not far from my own. Because we are so poor, it is easy to be exploited.
Now, I am making and selling donuts on the street to pay for university but I still live in poverty and barely eat. My dream is to one day create a place for orphans and vulnerable people to live and get an education.”

“I am very grateful to God The Almighty and to our Lord Jesus Christ for what He has done through The Graceful Warrior Project in my life.
Comparing to my today’s life and what I was before, I can say that it’s the grace of God throughout godly people that God has pre-established in the world to help vulnerable people like me.
It has pleased to God in his mercy to have a look at me and remove the confusion which was in my life and to make me useful for the future generation.
I thought and knew that only people who have money could study and get all that they need and I have witnessed this both in my neighborhood and at school.
Looking at the way I was humiliated, sometimes I was desperate and wished not to live on this earth. I forgot that God always has compassion with those who fear him. I was not misled by my friends who misbehaved and who brought bad advice and through all of their bad behavior, I was not misled, while not knowing where my rescue and solution to my problems will come from.
Today I’m grateful for your good will and trust you have placed in me by putting me at school. For so long I have lost the envy to return to school because of the difficulties that I have been going through- but having what I have and being able to go to school for me was a dream I thought I could not realize.
I thank God also that I have a small business which helps me a lot. I help feed my family and cover my needs. All of this is possible because of you, Kelly and your friends at GWP.
Praise God for this vision, the curriculum helps me a lot. This book has revealed to me and inspire my faith through its content. It made me able to stand for myself and be able to resist during ups and downs, have self-confidence, standing in front of the public without shame and share my opinions.
To sum up, I think that I am going to attend God’s plan for my life.
