The Team
Tanzania Chief Neema, GWP founder, Kelly & Congo Chief Annette!
Tim & Noreen Muehlhoff
Tim is a professor at Biola University. He teaches gender conflict and reconciliation as well as self defense.
Noreen also works at Biola and together they hold conferences on marriage. Tim is also on our board– I think you can see why they are AMAZING assets to our team that help drive our mission forward.
Kristin Titov
Incredible prayer warrior and entrepreneur. If you need anything done- give it to this woman. #powerhouse
We are beyond excited to announce that she is spearheading our 2021 GWP gala this fall!
Rose Sinclair
Kelly and Rose met while Rose was a missionary at a safe house in Brazil that Kelly went to work with. Rose began to faithfully support GWP prayerfully and financially and we had the huge honor of having her with us! She is a nurse as well as a martial artist and brought so much knowledge that we used in just about every area of the trip! Thank goodness she was with us!
Eli Robinson
Eli brought a lot of humor to the trip that everyone was so thankful for! He made us laugh, he made us food, AND…he made us a video of our trip. What a legend! You won’t want to miss it, he did a phenomenal job! He is also filming a major aspect of the self defense videos that will be put together for our teams on our Youtube channel. #Legend
On This Trip…
We checked out our first official safe house! It is GORGEOUS. And big. There are rooms for the girls to sleep, to learn self defense, to lounge, to do homework, to study sewing! It’s amazing!
We also saw their crop fields, which are FLOURISHING. The harvest from these fields will be able to feed their girls for an entire year!
Neema showed us some of her animals– they have added one cow, chickens and goats to the original pig farm that we started her with. We will help them to add on to their livestock so that they will be able to eat and sell them for even greater sustainability!
Inside the walls of their safe house, they have amazing fruit trees. We went to the local nursery and picked out even more fruit bearing trees that would add to the sustainability for the safe house. We also added beautiful plants, trees and even vines that would begin to grow over the walls that protect the safe house. All of this in an effort to bring sustainability and beauty for a place that so many girls will call home.
Chief Neema, Chief Annette and Kelly met with their new TZ lawyer and officially signed over the land into GWP’s name so that generations of girls will be able to call this safe house home.
We went to visit an elementary school right down the road from the safe house. Chief Neema and Chief Annette got to do what they do best: engage and teach the girls. It is always incredible to see them in action. We also learned from their principle that many of the little girls get raped on the way to school and have to drop out. They discussed getting in touch with some of the more at risk girls and their parents who live very far away, and inviting the girls to live at the safe house where they will be well taken care of, fed and walked to school in safety.
We set up a new partnership with a Maasai village that was deep in the bush. After the women heard about GWP and what we do, they immediately nominated this beautiful woman shown above to be their new leader under Chief Neema. Her name just also happens to be…Neema! (Neema in Swahili means Grace). This beautiful young leader will now train underneath Neema, with either her coming to the safe house, or Chief Neema coming back to their village- they will have regular meetings and Neema will begin passing along the same tools and resources that she received herself 🙂
We also got to share the FGM (Female Genital Mutilation)pamphlets that one of our interns, Kayla, had made with Chief Neema. Through deep research and careful wording, they crafted this brochure in a way that gave the desperately wanted information to the women while still being culturally sensitive.
Tim and Rose also got to teach self defense as they both study Krav Maga! Tim also shared about their identity and how much they are loved and chosen by God. They expressed their need for more Bible trainings, and Tim is working hard to connect them with more resources.
We also built a relationship and partnership with a local church. Neema’s late mother, God rest her soul, was a huge part of this little church, and she was a huge part of GWP. We are honored to partner with this church in her memory.
Our first curriculum, Finding Myself in the Gospel Story, is now in 5 languages, including Swahili and Maasai! It is available on Amazon in English and French, and ALL of our leaders are actively searching for printing possibilities in their own communities!
The Video!
Wow this was an incredible trip and GWP has grown because of each of these individuals and their big, huge hearts. Thank you team for saying yes, leaving your comfort zones, and for giving and receiving love to our dear sisters and brothers. Now they are no longer names and pictures- they are family.
A Special Thank You…
We want to say a very special thank you to Rainbow Sandals and the William Rhodes Foundation, as well as our army of supporters for making this safe house a reality for these women and girls.
