Why did you all decide to go back to Goma?: Decision to return is never an easy one. But Hope for peace and stability and the promise of a peace agreement , also is because the news was saying the rebels are planning to get in Kalemi and Lumbumbashi (The two locations we moved them to) in few time so fear was present about living the same things twice. It often a difficult balancing act between the risks of violence and the challenges of displacement, as we were seeing in our kids and the rest of the team- the desire to be reunite with family members, and friends who were left behind, schools program because they were nearly to graduate their levels and they didn’t want to lose all of their hard work is a significant motivator -and at the end the spend of budget was too high providing for two places.
How has it been back? What is different or what is the same?: Goma is different like empty, full of fears in people, more taxes are imposed, rebels are everywhere. People dying without explanation. They are taking boys to put them in army by force. The only place we feel safe is home
Are you afraid?: ohhh yes.
Is it safe for kids to go to school?: Yes all kids in town they are going to school, and we are in contact with the school’s authority if they are something emergency, they will call us.
Are they walking by themselves?: No no. We will be driving them to school in our car until this situation ends.
How is your health?: I’m going through a lot of medicine, I will be good soon. (In Jesus name!)
How is the new land with goats and chickens?: good, they are healthy.
