God’s little ones rescued & brought into family
Moses Murrietta came to teach Muay Thai!
We are so thankful that he came all the way to our little village in Africa to teach our people!
GIRLS: Moses focused on defense with our girls – how to teep to maintain distance with an attacker- also effectively telling the attacker that you are willing to put up a fight for your safety and wellbeing.
BOYS: Moses focused on offense with a small group from our young men’s team. These young men struggle with so much- whether it’s volunteering to fight on the border with Kenya with only knives as weapons, or trying to protect their mothers or sisters from rape which is all too common.
This was the first camp we have had that was focused on our men’s team (it’s new ◡̈ ) so we got to learn about them more and hear their hearts and their stories. We learned of one of our young men- how he volunteers to protect the border during heightened political violence, how he volunteers to guard the elementary school and how he volunteers to take care of our dogs and train them. He took us to where he sleeps and it was a situation no one should have to live in. He slept on a small pile of clothes on top of bed slats. He only got food when it was offered to him. And yet he is the first to offer help, the first to volunteer, the first to show up for Mo’s Muay Thai classes every day, always humble, never complaining.
We invited him to work on our farm and told him that he would be paid. The farm house is almost finished – soon he will have a beautiful little home to live in. He will have all of his meals at the safe house and he doesn’t have to be alone anymore. He can be a part of our family.
Thank you Moses for coming all this way to equip so many young people who don’t have anything to give back, but whose lives have changed because you came. You are always welcome back to your Tanzanian home 🇹🇿 Karibu Tena
