MAY 2024: Adopting A Refugee Camp

Prayer Chain

This month we prayer about it:

Security over all our family. For our students in this exams period. We prayed for the acquisition of new land for Graceful so we can have more space for the work of God. We pray for security in the refugee camp as we are going there to assist. We continue to pray for Easter Congo peace as well. We pray for our donors. We pray for GWP Haiti team and leaders.

Preparing myself (Annette, GWP CONGO Chief) to go represent GWP in Alexandria, Egypt for the invitation we received from CMS Africa who I presented to you last month who have been engaged in efforts with multiple churches and organizations, all Christian, to make disciples in the contexts of conflict focused in the general areas of Ituri, North Kivu and South Kivu in the DR Congo. This started with an online consultative forum in November 2021 and continues with various activities.

Outreach: Refugee Camp

This Month, thanks to God, GWP and other organization we have been able to help our brothers and sister in the refugee camp, and praise Him we were able to provide for them 2 (very large) tanks for water (that can be refilled twice a week for 4-15,000 refugees. Cholera was spreading rampantly, death and disease. Thanks to the Good Shepherd’s generous donation, we were able to sponsor them in this. We have since adopted two sections of the refugee camp. The camp was divided up into sections and the different organizations chose what they could manage and take responsibility for. Praise God we have been able to take 2 sections containing about 4,000 refugees and we will continue to bring relief to them through God’s hand).

Spiritual Self Defense

We really enjoy having a powerful time in bible study we learn more, we share, we laugh with love together, we discuss about sexuality according to bible aspect. In additional to our experience in the camp where we went to see women and girls, we realize it was importance to talk about.

God not only created man and woman, He also created physical intimacy and sexuality. The Bible speaks very openly about this. First of all, it is something functional: sex is the way to reproduce, so you will have offspring. If we, as humans, would stop having sex, we would simply die out. Sex is also something beautiful. The Bible book Song of Solomon describes the attraction between man and woman in a poetic way. ” For love is as strong as death, its jealousy as enduring as the grave. Love flashes like fire, the brightest kind of flame. Because love is strong as death, passion unstoppable as the grave. Her sparks are fiery sparks, flames of the Lord” (Song of Solomon 8:6, NLT). Sex is something pleasant and beautiful, something you can enjoy together.

It is extremely appealing. You can “burn with passion” (1 Corinthians 7:9, NIV), the Bible is also very clear about that. Several times, you come across the striking comparison between sexuality and fire. A fire is something beautiful and useful: it is warm, it illuminates, it keeps wild animals at bay, fire even purifies. But you should not play with it, because then it will flare up and set everything on fire, which leads to major damage. If you want to enjoy a nice fire, you have to keep it within certain boundaries, such as a fireplace. In the same way, God has set boundaries to our sexuality. Not because he doesn’t want us to enjoy it, but to ensure that it stays good and pleasant and so we won’t get damaged by it. Wrong sex can cause great damage!

One of the specific and clear boundaries God has set in this regard is that sex is only allowed within marriage. Throughout the Irresistible course, we will look at this more closely. We will address questions such as: Where is this in the Bible? What does God say marriage is? For example, can you also make a wedding vow without recording it in a legal marriage? Are there limits to sex within marriage and, if so, what are these? How far can you go sexually if you are not yet married? What about masturbation and porn? And once you get married, how do you get on in your sexual relationship? And many other questions and topics.

The biblical fact that sex is only permitted within a marriage between a man and a woman is in sharp contrast with the general belief in today’s society, that you can have sex with whomever you want without any obligation. This makes things more difficult for us. It is completely different from what many people around us are thinking and doing. That is not something new that we only have to deal with in our time. Even in the times of Lot.

We continue to review practicing course 1 from the correction we get with coach which is:

1.proactive; here we do our best to put our self in a secure zone, with secure people we fill safe with so we can anticipate dangers

2.verbal: here we learn and practice how we can turn off, or put out the fire, from anger, dispute or something like that to be safe

3.physical: we practice it to empower ours self and run safe from danger, please check it in our monthly video
